Israel and Exceptionalism

I think we can look at the highly intelligent, highly resilient, highly resourceful nation of israel as an example of democracy and exceptionalism gone haywire based on one belief, that being, the superiority/ supremacy of their existence based on an imaginative proclamation of a god with a personality which, uncoincidentally, acts just like them. The horse before the carrot sort of thing.

Israel, of course, is not alone. Many of the current world powers and many of all nation states, whether tribal societies or sophisticated, technologically advanced, like Dubai, have demonstrated the same tendency, basing their superiority on messages from some god who happens to mirror that particular people cultural, religious atrocities.

As we know, if anyone of us started using god as a reason for doing whatever we want, it would be short-lived and disastrous and declared mentally insane.

Any fool who espouses such theory needs authoritarian power, that is, power entrenched in institutions of tradition, religion, and popular belief in magical thinking.

None of us have that.

Our particular system is based on guilt/More on that later.

The language

The language In the modern world, and to me that means the world as formed from the rise of western european and us into dominance. Does a man who commits rape get to define "rape?". Does a nation get to define genocide? Does a dictator get to define freedom? If not, then why is there no certain definitions. The israel hamas war has once again demonstrated that outside the actual physical atrocity of war is the war of words. Language is all we have as humans to use in explaining our actions, and those explanations are weighed against what we describe as the truth, and full circle jerk fashion, that truth is the judicious dissection of the language compared to what happened according to witnesses and what they have to say about it.   Everyone is looking ahead to the mid-term elections to save us from the Monster who gave us the apprentice. It should be debatable that if anybody who voted for Trump because he was a celebrity should have their citizenship discontinued for a period of time, maybe a special place devoid of tv and digital news.   The story is about a young, intelligent Nigerian woman who goes to America to go to school more so because America is where young, intelligent Nigerians go. She goes with all the earnestness of a new immigrant, but not a typical immigrant we are used to portraying in our media. She is one of millions from all over the globe who come on student visas, brought up in their own country in whatever middle class standard is prevalent, and are considering staying in America and becoming professionals but, once reality sets in, have a harder time deciding America is not for them. The book is the journey of Ifemelu, a Nigerian woman and details the reasons why young people in Nigeria, specifically, and worldwide, generally, see opportunity in America as a viable opportunity to live better lives. It seems like it took forever. Finally laying to rest the notion I had something to do to the conversation. I couldn't imagine the final chapter, the one where everybody died or only the bad ones, glorifying good over and over again. This is the story of how that happened. It was 2025. My life seemed over enough to be able to translate it into some sort of meaning. The hostages were being released, thus finally giving clarity to evil.
